Paper Puppets
Woohoo! 2 posts in 1 day! I found these paper puppets saved on the old computer so I figured I might as well post them. Last semester I was in experimental animation class and the midterm assignment was paper cut out animation. These 2 clowns are the old cuban fisherman characters in my effort. I'm a little happy with the design of the little guy but I could never come up with a good design for the tall guy. They are watercolored so I'll apologize in advance for the crappiness, I'm new to that medium. Since it is paper cut out I figured it would lend itself to being a little more "designy" so these are more angular and flat than my normal style. They were eventually cut out and taped to wire armatures and animated.
Sketchbook Stuff
Wow, it's been a long time since I posted anything. I have continued to study and copy from old cartoons but can never find the time to scan them and post them on the old blog :( Anyways here are some sketches from old sketchbooks. I love drawing from life but lately I've been struggling to find a comfortable style to draw in that is both appealing and economical enough for me to capture the model quickly. I'm usually torn between my studies in figure drawing and anatomy class to do more finished, detailed drawings and my more cartoony, exaggerated natural drawing style. Hopefully I'll just keep drawing and it will work itself out.
